Right Horse Right Home has now reached its first birthday and what an incredible year it has been.  We have seen hundreds of horses listed for sale, 1000s of registered buyers searching for the right horse and many have found the perfect match as a result of the unique service and system facilitated by the website and offered by its staff.  Horses and ponies have been listed from each corner of the UK including N. Ireland, Scotland and the far reaches of Cornwall.  The site has even had great quality horses listed from the Republic of Ireland giving buyers even more choice.

The unique application system means buyers have to write their ‘horsey cv’ before getting in touch with owners, and owners are required to answer very specific questions about their horse’s training and behaviour in order for their advert to be published on the website.  The system mirrors that of a dating website or jobsite.  It is this very specific and detailed sharing of information between buyer and seller which vastly increases the prospect of finding the right match between horse, rider and home thus reducing the stress, time and expense wasted dealing with individuals who do not subscribe to honesty and transparency.   So many of our members, both buyers and sellers, have seen this novel website as a breath of fresh air in combating what can be a very difficult, dishonest and potentially dangerous environment.

Many sellers, before turning to Right Horse Right Home, have had dire previous experiences trying to sell their horses through traditional websites  where so much time has been wasted trying to find the right fit for their horse.    Many have been inundated with calls and messages at any time of the day and night from people, sometimes not even in an actual position to buy a horse, who don’t seem to have any concept of when is an acceptable time to call, ask sometimes quite ridiculous questions and so often had they read the advert properly in the first place they would have then found the answer to their given question.

We have buyers desperately trying to find the right horse, spending hours trawling through websites, to then find what looks like “the one” to be told by the owner that the horse was sold months ago but the advert was never removed.  Adverts where the obvious questions like; good to hack alone, good in traffic, good to load, no vices – are just not provided – leaving the buyer suspicious as to whether this information was omitted intentionally or innocently.   At Right Horse Right Home we insist all of these basic questions are answered, it is not possible to avoid the truth thus making the job of filtered down to the real contenders for the buyer so much easier. Whilst we may not have the vast numbers of horses displayed on other sites as we are only 1 yr old, when horses are sold they are removed from the site. Buyers don’t need to assume that if they get to the last page of adverts on the website the horses will have long time been sold, with us this is simply not the case.  Owners are very prompt at informing us because they appreciate buyers make applications and they too are subscribers and thus are financially motivated to remove their advert when our services are no longer required.

Many of us horse owners can muck out a stable to perfection,  spot the early onset signs of laminitis or colic  but when it comes to various aspects of IT we need a helping hand which is absolutely fine by us.Many hours have been spent behind the scenes helping owners with their adverts, photos and video.  The information on the adverts is meticulously screened prior to publication to ensure it is sufficiently detailed and that there are no glaring omissions of information or contradictions.

Unlike traditional websites, we genuinely care that you find the right horse and indeed the right home for your horse and will work with you to get the best result, whether that is support writing a horse advert, uploading pictures and videos or just moral support on the telephone.

During the next year we plan to give our members greater value for money by introducing additional benefits in the form of equestrian product discounts and discounts at everyday stores.  We will continue to allow owners to sell more than 1 horse for the same membership fee and we hope to continue to give buyers more choice in the horses they can apply for.  The number of horses advertised have already increased by over 50% in the past month alone which is great news.
