Home is more important than price

This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write, and something I have gone back and forth over for months. Anyone who knows me knows Mystic is my absolute world. But the reality is, with my working hours increasing and life constantly changing, it has become unfair and selfish for me to keep her when I can no longer give her the time, consistency, and routine she truly deserves.

So, with the heaviest heart, Mystic is looking for a new home.

Mystic is a 15hh ISH x Welsh D mare with the biggest heart and so much talent. She is not a novice ride and never will be, so please read honestly and carefully.

Mystic had a very difficult past before I owned her and a lot of her quirks stem from fear and insecurity. When I first got her, she was incredibly challenging, but over the years she has transformed into the most loving, genuine mare. She just needs someone who understands her and is willing to listen to her.

She is mainly used as a hacking horse and has attended pleasure rides and XC days, where she has been fantastic. She can be spooky at sudden noises or unfamiliar things and, in the past, she has bolted when overwhelmed, although this is not something she does now. She is the type of horse that needs reassurance and confidence from her rider — the more relaxed and positive you are, the better she is.

She can be nappy hacking alone and may spin when nervous rather than go forward, but this is confidence-based, never malicious. Once she trusts you and knows her routine, she settles beautifully.

In the school she works lovely on the flat and has done dressage with me, although busy show atmospheres can make her anxious. At home, she is soft, willing, and really enjoys having a job.

Jumping is where she shines. She comfortably jumps around 1m at home and has scope for more. She is incredibly careful and brave when ridden positively, but if her rider lacks confidence she can back off or refuse. She needs someone clear, quiet, and confident with their riding.

She can be a little pocket rocket in regular work — more forward and enthusiastic than nasty or dangerous — and she absolutely thrives from consistency.

On the ground she is generally very easy to handle. She is good for the farrier and great with her feet, although she does fidget for the dentist, dislikes being clipped, and absolutely isn’t a fan of the vets. Again, this all comes back to her past and needing calm, patient handling.

Temperament-wise, she is one of the sweetest horses I’ve ever known. She adores attention, loves other horses, and just wants to be loved. She has so much personality and so much love to give the right person.

🏡 The home is the MOST important thing. Absolutely no dealers, riding schools, or novices. She needs a knowledgeable, kind, patient person who understands sensitive horses and is willing to continue building her confidence rather than expecting perfection overnight.

I also want to apologise to people who may have messaged previously and never received a reply. The truth is I’ve been incredibly indecisive and honestly terrified to go through with this for a very long time. This decision has not been made lightly at all.

I am in absolutely no rush whatsoever. I would rather keep her forever than let her go somewhere unsuitable.

She was kicked 3 years ago in her hock, this is not effected any work and she was cleared by vets / physio however can appear stiff if cold / unfit – full disclosure again does not effect her work can still jump, flat, XC and ect
