Horse Details

I am looking for a long term loan home for our much loved mare. She is a 16h Chestnut ISH. We bought her from a teenage girl moving on to uni six years ago and have kept her at home since then. She was bought as an eventing horse for my daughter to go up the levels but sadly some damage in her feet and lower legs (I can share full vet history) meant that she could never be guaranteed to be sound enough to event.

The 2 years we did have eventing her and attending pony club events were magical and she proved herself to be a really special person. Relaxed and biddable and one that I could handle being a non horsey mum! She has continued to be a much loved member or the family and has a lovely relaxed life here at home with her companion, Clippy (my daughter’s pony), who also did a great job for us. 14.2hh she has been retired for 6 years really and is a wonderful mare, easy to do and friendly.

Ideally I am looking for a home pretty local to us for the full loan of both mares, Lyri and Clippy.

Lyri would suit someone looking for a relaxed hacking companion. She would need to be slowly brought back to work but would be ok walking on road and progressing to potentially trotting on a surface or softer ground. She can be picked up and put down and does not need a strict routine. She suits a confident rider, used to a mare. My daughter would hack her out on the buckle and she is good in company or on her own and good in traffic. Never anything malicious.

Easy to do in all ways. She is a real poppet.

My daughter is now at university and has less time to be around the horses and I feel they could have another job to do and another person to love.

We have ample grazing here and don’t need them to go so will only move them on if the right home presents itself.
