Contacting Horse Owners
Making Applications
To contact an owner of a horse you are interested in, you need to apply for the horse by clicking on the orange “apply” button on their advert underneath the photos of the horse. This is your opportunity to sell yourself to the owner of the horse. Remember, it is also very important to our owners that they find the right match for their horse.
The application asks you details about the type of horse you are looking for, what you want to do with the horse and the type of home you can provide. This information is invaluable to the owner when assessing suitability and prioritising who to invite to view their horse. It is to your benefit as a buyer/loaner, as so much time and expense can be wasted going to view horses which if this type of information was shared at the outset could have been avoided. It makes for a much more efficient way of finding the right horse. You can read testimonials here from likeminded buyers and loaners who have used our system to find the right horse.
Duplicate Your Application as a Wanted Advert
Once you have applied for the horse, you can also tick the box at the bottom of the application, to have it duplicated as a Wanted Advert and be sent details of other new horses listed that meet your specific search criteria.
The system will also save and pre populate whatever you have written in your first application to ensure there is no need to type it all out again for further applications but you can also edit it to make it more specific for any new horse.
Have You Been Successful?
Once you have applied for your horse the application is sent through to the owner and they should be in touch within 24hrs. If you don’t hear within this time frame it is important that you let us know so we can chase the owner for you. Understandably not all applications are successful. If your application is declined by an owner you can always receive feedback giving the reason for the decision. This can be very helpful in terms of applying for further horses and increasing your chances of finding the very best match.
Being Invited to Visit
If you are invited by the owner to visit the horse do take an experienced person with you who is aware of your riding ability, what you are looking for in your next horse and who can be objective about whether the horse is suitable. You can read more advice here on how to prepare for your viewing.
