Horse Details

Betty is a 17 year old ISH mare standing at 16.1hh who is looking for her next home as her current rider is off to University. We bought Betty 6 years ago for my then 14 year old son for pony club activities moving up from ponies to horses. She was the perfect step up. Together they attended many local show jumping competitions, consistently being placed and bringing home rosettes. She also jumped clear for CHPC at the Burghley Pony Club Show Jumping. She also did a lot of hunting in her previous home.

On the flat, Betty works well but can find it difficult to maintain a consistent outline, so dressage isn’t her strongest discipline. However, with a bit of time and schooling, this could certainly improve, despite her age. I have taken her on sponsored rides and dressage lessons, and if it weren’t for my focus on polo (which isn’t suited to her). I would happily keep her myself.

Since my son went to university she has been on loan. Her current rider, who has cared for her for the past 2.5 years, says the the following

“Betty has taught me so much coming off ponies. She thrives on show jumping and is happily competing at 90-110 cms. She hacks alone and in company, isn’t fazed by dogs, and is beautifully mannered on the ground. She’s spent time at a polo yard with me, so she is used to a busy environment. As I am heading off to university in September, I am helping to find her a wonderful new home she deserves”.

Betty would suit a confident rider looking for a kind, experienced, mare who loves to jump and enjoys an active life.
