Dowlesbrook Maggie May – 14.2hh – 11-year-old – Bay Mare – Full Welsh Section D. Conwy, North Wales

Maggie is a kind mare with a lovely traditional Welsh Section D stamp, boasting plenty of depth, bone and movement.

Over the past 10 months, Maggie has enjoyed a varied lifestyle, regularly attending riding club clinics, county and local shows, show jumping, cross country and stay-away camps. She has taken all these new experiences in her stride, gaining confidence and experience along the way. She has a super outlook on the flat and enjoys having a varied job, whether that be schooling, hacking, fun rides or getting out and about to shows.

Maggie hacks excellently both alone and in company. She is good with traffic/farm machinery and happily spends hours out exploring. She loads and travels well in both a trailer/ horse box and is equally happy to stand on board after a ride. She is not a mare who needs riding every day and is quite content having days off.

She is very good to handle on the ground and happily stands tied up for grooming. Sensible in and out of the stable. She is good for the vet and clipping. She is perfectly happy having her feet trimmed but does require sedation or twitching for shoeing. She is currently front shod due to living in a hilly area, but she has previously been barefoot with previous owners. I am very happy to discuss this openly with serious enquiries.

I bought Maggie intending to compete her in Working Hunter M&M, but she has proved not suited to this discipline. As a result, I feel she would be much happier in a home where jumping is not the main focus. Again, I am very happy to discuss this openly with serious enquiries.

Maggie would suit someone looking for a genuine, enjoyable mare to have fun with, whether that’s schooling on the flat, dressage, showing, hacking, fun rides, endurance, or simply enjoying plenty of lower-pressure adventures together. She is not a novice ride or a mare for someone to learn on; she needs a kind, confident and sympathetic rider who will appreciate her for what she is.

She is easy to keep and is happy living in or out. She is up to date with her teeth, worming, vaccinations, physio and shoeing. Her tack and rugs are available by separate negotiation.

Maggie has previously been a broodmare and has some lovely traditional bloodlines, including Fronarth, Ebbw, Trevallion and Avonvalley.

A genuine mare looking for the right home where she can be enjoyed and appreciated.
