Henry is full of character and a really loving pony, he means the world to me but I don’t have a job for him currently.

He loves hacking in company, he does not hack alone. He possibly would if lots of ground work as in long lining was done, however I have never had the time to keep this up consistently. Loves fun rides and hunting. He has arthritis in his hocks, he schools amazingly but would need to be medicated to ask this of him as circles he finds hard especially on a surface. However hacking he is sound and happy without being medicated. He is really fun and can go at the front or back. He can have an odd excited buck but it’s easily sat and rare.

He can jump, however he kind of decides on the day if he wants to or not. When he does, he is amazing! Again, his hocks would need to be medicated for this.

He is forward out hacking and lazier in the school.

I have previously hunted him a few seasons, he is really buzzy the first few times but after that he settles into it and switches off.

He can be a typical Welsh and throw in a sharp spook every now and then, this is actually mostly schooling than hacking! He comes down from it straight away though and will carry on, he doesn’t hold on to things.

On the ground, again, he can be a typical Welsh and lead in a chain. He knows if it’s on or off and doesn’t bother doing anything if it’s on. He doesn’t do anything nasty, he will simply just go wherever he wants without the chain!

He thrives being in a herd, he does not like to be left on his own.

He does take a while to settle in a new home and routine, this can take a good few months and he will be quite tense. He just needs reassurance and structure unless in a herd 24/7 then he is happy to have no structure.

Barefoot – fidget to trim and pulls his feet away, better with a woman farrier. Has amazing feet, only requires around 3 trims a year as he self trims especially hacking.
Good to clip, falls asleep
Good to bath
Good to load
Good to travel
Will be fidgety to handle when taking him out the first few times but he does settle after a few times and will stand and eat his haynet. He just has a welsh brain and pretends he has forgotten he has done it a million times!

I have always taken him hunting/fun rides/arena hires on his own and been able to handle him.

He doesn’t like shows as gets nappy, this might be able to be worked on with someone experienced but I never had the time to.
