Horse Details

I’ve come to the heart breaking decision of having to let Theo go. I’ve got to be honest with myself and admit he’s not the horse for me. I’ve tried so hard the past 2.5 years to make us work, I’ve gave him my all but he needs someone else.
I need a break both financially and for my own well-being.
Theo is a 16.2 ISH 7 (in May gone).
He is a handsome, sensitive soul who is one of the yard favourites. He can be turned out with both mares or geldings and isn’t nasty with others in the field. He can be led with others to and from the field.
Theo has had an easy life while being with me, everything has being done slowly. We have mainly hacked out and lightly schooled, visited the beach, the gallops, arena hires. During our time together we have attended a Clive Johnson camp, been to a couple of dressage competitions too and he behaved so well. Last year (spring)Theo had 3 weeks at Carla Bolam’s where he came on lovely and was confidently jumping round 70cm. He’s not done any jumping since.

Theo travels well in a trailer both on his own and with others. He can hesitate at first to go on but then he just walks straight on like it was his idea all along.
Last October Theo had kissing spine surgery, it was a mild case but because he’s a sensitive chap we thought this was the best step to take instead of going round in circles with injecting his back. He’s also had steroid injections in his stifles and lower hock joints last summer but hasn’t needed them since. I’ve brought him back into work really slowly and he’s responded well and is going great. However, although most of the time he’s no bother he can overreact when he spooks which has had me off a few times and now I’ve lost my confidence, He will be sold from the field but I will lunge him a few times a week to keep him going.

Theo needs a confident, firm but kind and patient rider. He doesn’t need punishment, he doesn’t respond to this. I believe in the right hands he’s got the potential to be a good horse. Theo takes his confidence from his person. Theo could easily be just as happy too as a field companion. Someone who is into natural horsemanship. Absolutely no novices, he’s not a first horse and he’s not for a child/teenager. He’s not a finished ‘product’ so someone can still put their own stamp on.
