For Sale £6,500 Lily
Lily is a pretty ConnemaraX bay ISH mare, who we bought as a new 4-year old for my teen daughter to do Pony Club and local shows. She’s originally from Ireland (has passport).
My daughter is doing A levels and also also developed a talent for another sport which is now taking all her time (and mine!) so we’ve taken the really hard decision to part with Lily.
Lily came to us very green as a 4-year-old but settled in and has good manners on the ground and in the stable. Happy with vaccinations, shoeing, clipping, teeth, etc. She loads well on a lorry but a bit slower with a trailer and you just need a bit of patience before she walks on.
She’s been with my daughter to a couple of Pony Club camps, as well as flat and jumping rallies where she’s keen to learn and quite happy in a solo lesson, or with other horses in the class. She’s attended some private lessons and pole clinics too. Lily is good to lunge and responds well to voice.
We’ve also done some local SJ events and hunter trials, Pony Club hunt meets and summer hunt rides, where she behaved well in company. She loves to jump, but is still quite green, as we didn’t get out and about as much as originally intended.
We’ve not done much at all since last autumn and only hacked a few times over the winter, so she is not very fit just now.
Lily is keen to learn but can lack confidence and is still relatively inexperienced, so best suited for a competent teen, or smaller adult rider. She’s not suitable for a novice rider. She’s forward going and responsive to the leg but has good brakes both in the school or the open field/ out hacking. We mostly hack out alone and Lily can be spooky when she’s on her own but goes past obstacles if you reassure her. Much more confident if I’m on a bike along with my daughter riding, or she’s in company.
Lily has a busy brain and loves it when she has a job to do, so unfortunately wasted just being in a field with us. It’s a really sad sale for us, as we’ve had Lily over 3 years and she’s had such fun, but I do feel that it’s the right thing for the horse to go to a home where she can be active and fulfil her potential to event or jump, or at least ride reguarly.
Currently ridden in a snaffle bridle, with martingale when out hacking, or jumping.
Lives amicably with pony mare and gelding; comes trotting up to be caught in the field. Could potentially live out (if you don’t have wind and mud like we do!) but also happy in the stable.
Up to date with ‘flu & tetanus vaccinations, teeth and shoeing.
