Bought 2021 and lightly backed spring 2023.
For the past 14 months, Sassy has been on grass livery with a professional, being handled once weekly, working on her groundwork while I have been living abroad. She has filled out and matured very well and is now ready to continue her education under saddle.
Due to Sassy’s sensitive nature and slow start in handling before I bought her, she will require trust to be built up slowly, and her new owner will need to treat her as if she is unbacked and work from the ground up.
Sassy has been ridden more times bareback than under saddle. She is an incredibly sweet-natured, honest mare with very high intelligence and the capability to live up to her name! She will follow me around the field and always be respectful of my personal space, to the point of chasing after me when I run and stopping dead as I stop.
Hacking out for the first time, she led the way and proved incredibly bold and thrived from being out in that environment. She has only been ridden by me and walked out, and trotted thus far. Sassy has stunning straight moving floaty paces and will excel herself in the showring. She has been shown in hand once and took it in her stride very well.
Her teeth are currently required to be done every 6 months due to sharp peaks that can occur due to a slight wave structure in her mouth and wanted to ensure it does not interfere with her while bridled.
Sassy is barefoot, and the farrier has suggested that her feet are more than capable of staying unshod. She requires a very gentle approach from the farrier due to her not being seen by one until I bought her, and preferably a quiet female farrier as she responds better.
Sassy does not love being stabled (Due to living in an indoor arena before I bought her), but she has come a long way and will settle with another horse inside with her.
Sassy is good to load once you establish that her stubbornness is just that, and proceed with a positive, calm, but firm approach.
Pigs and alpacas are very threatening to life and bring out the “Sass” in Sassy. She is desensitised to a lot of machinery from living on a farm.
Reason for sale being that horse flights are outwith my budget and I now find myself making a life overseas. This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make but I must do what is right for both her and me.
Sassy will come with bridle and rugs (she is in extra wide 7Ft)
