Siskin is looking for a hacking home.

Siskin is a beautiful example of the fabulous Highland breed. A weight carrier, well mannered and easy to do, he is a gentle companion to both people and animals.

Siskin has mild arthritis in his hind fetlocks so is best suited to hacking with only light schooling. He is medicated and sound, does move well in the school and long lining and has done some natural horsemanship, but gets uncomfortable with lots of ridden schooling or jumping.

He hacks alone and in company and is a confidence giver for other horses when out. He’s experienced in heaviest traffic as well as country lanes etc. He’s been on horse holidays and loves the water. He loads well but with an unconfident loader may take advantage.

Siskin can live out 24/7 and respects even the most basic electric fencing, but he is equally happy stabled and not worried if he’s the only one in. His stable manners are impeccable and he has no stable vices.

Siskin is a gently social soul, prefers to be turned out with others, makes friends with horses of all sizes, whether mares or geldings and would not be happy kept as a lone horse.

He is good for the farrier, dentist, vet and to tack up, groom and bath, Siskin is barefoot, is not greedy and has no history of laminitis. He’s not generally clipped but has happily tolerated a front end clip. He wasn’t keen on a belly clip and doesn’t much like the equine hygenist.

I have owned Siskin for the last 2 and a half years but sadly can no longer ride. Prior to that he was in the same home from a yearling where he was carefully brought on and taught the best manners. He is currently being ridden by his previous owner to keep him fit and stimulated.

I am seeking a long term home for this lovely, loving and easy-going boy. His vet reports are available and I’m happy to provide as much information as desired. Prospective homes will be vetted and we’d like to keep in touch with first refusal to rebuy should you wish to sell him.

His made to measure saddle, bit and bridle, and his scoot boots and rug set are also available.
