Horse Details

Dinkie (Straits of Moyle) is a lovely 7yo 15hh TB gelding. Retired from racing sound and spent time with his previous owners out hunting.

I purchased him for my daughter and I to share in November last year and spent some time hacking out before a weather enforced break over winter. He has been long lined a little this spring but unfortunately, due to my daughters lack of interest and other children, I haven’t had the time to bring him back into work so is being sold from the field.

When working, he is excellent to hack out alone, and although can be a little nappy if we meet others out, nothing that would bother a competent rider. He has proven to be excellent in traffic. We live on a very busy road and he has encountered many HGV’s, tractors and cars with trailers and he has been outstanding. We haven’t ridden in company ourselves but having seen plenty of videos of him hunting, I cannot imagine this being an issue.

He hasn’t done a lot of schooling or jumping with his previous home but I do have some videos from his previous owner of him schooling over jumps.

He was clipped by his previous owner and was fine, he is excellent to shoe (is shod all round). He is good to catch, loads and travels well in our backwards facing trailer but I would imagine, having raced, he travels well in a lorry too. He is used to chickens, cats, dogs and children.

He doesn’t like being tied up and he does crib. He can be a little grumpy around his bucket feed and does pull faces at times. This is reflected in his price.

He is currently living at home where is has horsey neighbours and is fine being turned out on his own.

Unfortunately, a change in my role at work, coupled with a toddler and my daughter who has lost interest means I do not have the time to dedicate to him and I feel that for him to thrive, he needs more regular work than I can give him.

He will be a lovely fun little horse for someone with more time to give him.
