For Loan Bee
A very bright competition horse, from well known bloodlines. Gt Grandfather is Marius, brother to John Whitakers famous ride Milton. ❤️ However she has been and still is a wasted field ornament, for the past 14 months.! So is a tad fat fluffy and unfit LoL
Bee comes with quirks that we inherited after we bought her 10 years ago. After she landed in the wrong hands of people who were dazzled by her breeding. But were not prepared for her level of intelligence.. if she likes something she loves it. If she hates it she really does..!! See below. Some areas have improved with us some haven’t. So I am looking for someone who wants the opportunity to have a project for a few years. But it won’t be a smooth ride by any means. You need patience, experience, a sense of humour, LOTS of time and be prepared to work hard to get this girlies loyalty. Ideally you will have already worked with mares and that won’t put you off.
Plus points..❤️❤️
Can live on own. Is a peoples horse. Loves lots of attention. But wouldn’t do well, in a large busy livery yard. She is far better in a quiet small set up. She is top mare in any herd and makes sure everybody knows at meal times, therefore she has to be brought in first.
She will chase the others off at the gate.!
Has done Prelim dressage and some jumping with daughter and eventing before we had her. Unfortunately due to transport issues and a lack of ménage hire locally we never got to bring out the best of her ability. So local shows were only done. But she absolutely could and will do really well in the right hands.
Bee Is always exceptionally well behaved at shows. Ties up at the box, doesn’t get silly in warm up, as she has her head in the game and concentrates.
Although 19, has years left on the clock, once fit again.
Perfect for the farrier.
Quiet as a lamb whilst travelling. However (see not so plus points).!
Loves attention and routine.
Very good doer.
Forward going.
Completely happy with dogs, chickens, sheep, cats, running around her. Currently sharing her stable with a hen who insists on leaving her an egg every
Morning.
Not so plus points.
Has been on Regumate every day all year round. Has been on it for past 18 months and it has REALLY helped her.
This is negotiable, with loanee, however it is seriously recommended. As really helped with hacking.
Can sometimes decide not to load, longest time taken 15 mins. Better with forward facing lorry or trailer. We currently have a 3.5t side loader, which she does take longer to load in. Hasn’t been on since last journey 14 months ago. But as said once on, is perfect. Has travelled to Herefordshire from the Yorkshire Moors, over 7 hours, and was an utter super star.! She did a 3 day clinic with Equestrian Influencer, Olivia Towers. Who loved her and saw the potential she had in dressage.!
Doesn’t like being clipped. But haven’t tried since being on Regumate. Maybe more tolerant now.
Hates vets/dentists. Came to us with serious negative association. No idea what happened to her in the past. Currently vaccs have expired as she is in a closed herd in the middle of the Moors. Any treatment ideally needs doing in stocks, where she stands exceptionally still and accepts treatment.
Without she will become panicky and bargy.
Prior to having Regumate hacks could be unpredictable with napping. And would bunny hop and occ rear.. However friend who had her on loan, suggested Regumate as behaviour was def in cycles.! She then noticed a marked improvement afterwards. But rider HAS to be confident incase she tried it on initially. Sound with traffic, however she has lived in the quiet North York Moors for a decade, so isn’t use to busy suburban hacking. I can’t say what she would be like along a busy road. When we bought her we hacked her along a main road and she was fine. But that was 10 years ago.
She was always much better hacking after a schooling session. Once her mind had been worked. Hacking bites her so she needs a job..!!
Ground manners are good, but she can forget herself around tea time..! . She is not a plod, to be handled by young children from the ground.
Bee is a competition horse with the breeding to back this up. Has the potential to do really well, with the right rider, who has regular access to a menagè and potentially wants to compete. Don’t let her age put you off!
I do not have the time to look after 4 horses at home, whilst working full time and give them everything they need. And Bee is utterly wasted. My daughter works shifts and her life has taken a different direction now. She is incredibly upset about us having to put her out on loan, but understands we have too. So she won’t be involved with meeting potential loanees.
Health
Currently very healthy but completely unfit so loanee has to accept, that she will need to be brought back into fitness gradually over Winter ready for competing Spring/Summer 2026. If it’s not too wet you can try her in one of the paddocks. But remember she’s unfit.!
Splint opp 5 years ago near fore. 1000% recovered and does not effect performance at all.
Has reacted to midge bites on a couple of occasions when pastured near water, so ideally needs to be away from ponds rivers etc.
Due to her quirks I do not want her sold on and ended up in the wrong hands. She can come back to us to retire properly, when I am retired and will have more time. Or stay out long term.
She has a heart of gold and is perfect in the ménage, but she hasn’t been in one for a few years. Friend who loaned her just hacked.
You must have time to give to Bee. She is not a horse you can leave for days and then hop on. She requires a strong bond, routine and ideally someone who understands mares..!!!
You MUST be a very confident rider to bring out the best in her and be prepared to put a lot of work into this girly to get the best out of her.
We have absolutely no intention of wanting her back once she is fit and competing, so please do not think I am wanting to use a loan home, just to bring her back into work.
She will come with tack and rugs and a contract will be drawn up to ensure both parties are very clear about the arrangements.
I will be very transparent and have already said, she has reared and her behaviour with the vet is poor. Currently sees Clevedale who have stocks.
If you want a hacker then she is not for you. If you want a horse to plod around the ménage, with your mates, again she is not for you.
But if you want the opportunity to compete and further your experience with a horse, who has the potential to do really well, but with an understanding confident rider, then she maybe right for you.
She will need at least 2-3 months to settle, so if you are someone who gives up when a horse doesn’t settle or perform within the first few weeks, then read another advert.
She means the world to us, but we can’t keep her. And I want someone else to enjoy her, love her abilities and her quirks, as much as we do..!
If you are seriously interested please apply.
The add will prob put loads of people off, which is good. As I only want those of you that have a few years ahead of you to dedicate to Bee without the need to go out and buy a horse. And with the knowledge she can come Home if after a few months it really didn’t work out.
Update: vaccinations ARE up to date and teeth done Nov 24.! Forgot friend had them done for us (without stocks)..!
