For Sale £4,500 Joey
Joey is a very handsome 16hh 13 yr old bay gelding looking for a forever home.
He has previously competed up to BE Novice level, lots of wins up to BS foxhunter and competed in all pony club teams including coming 5th at open SJ Champs.
Due to lack of time starting a full time job and having another horse to ride, I made the sad decision to sell Joey two years ago. Unfortunately, he failed a thorough 5 stage vetting (more thorough due to the higher sale price) and following investigation it was discovered that he has kissing spine.
The spines have fused, meaning he should be more comfortable now than he was when he was in his prime, and just shows how honest and bold he is having done what he has done whilst possibly in pain.
Our vets are more than happy to explain this to potential buyers and have assured us he is perfectly capable of competing up to 100cm and you would never know there is anything wrong with him as he is jumping as well as he ever was!
For the last couple of years, Joey has been on loan with a friend of mine, competing in local one day events, show jumping and dressage as well as riding club teams up to 100cm with great success.
He is so easy to look after and has such a lovely attitude to life, and I am now in the position where I need to sell him due to now living and working in London and his current jockey moving to do the same thing.
The home Joey goes to is most important to us so I would happily consider offers on the price for the right home. He would most suit a competitive teenager moving on from ponies, or a mother/daughter share. He hacks well alone and in company and has hunted in the past and has attended camps/all pony club activities. He is perfect to load, lead etc.
Whilst 99% of the time he is like a giant labrador (just so lovely, easy and happy) he has got a slightly sharp side when not ridden consistently, which just consists of a whip round, however never rears and would only buck playfully. I only say this following enquiries from very novice riders and therefore I wouldn’t say he would suit a total novice or someone just looking to hack.
I have been totally honest in this advert in the hope to attract only serious enquiries, whilst on paper his medical history isn’t ideal, he has totally sound legs and has never had any other problems and his lovely personality and ability (still with potential to do the same as before if not more!) does make him worth this price, however as said above, very happy to consider offers to the right home.
Please apply if you would like to know any further information. I can happily send further pictures and videos and contact of the vets, other references.
